Chronology of the Town Hall Bremen
In 1225
a citizen council was mentioned for the first time.
In 1405-1410
the Town Hall was built in gothic style as a sign of the pride of the citizens.
Since 1545
Captains, ship owners and dealer met to exchange their experiences in the middle of February (no women) for the first time. Up to now it is called "The Schaffer Meeting".
1587
In a drawing of Lüder von Bentheim supplied the Town Hall with a renaissance front.
1605
The idea of v. Bentheim was accepted. The Town Hall was reconstructed.
In 1609
the roof of the Town Hall was rebuilt.
1616
The reconstruction was finished. The Town Hall had a renaissance front now.
In 1618-1620
"The Golden Room" was completed. It got its name because of the golden leather wall-paper.
In 1905-1915
a new Town Hall was built. It was built in noble retention. It had a character which chained on the old Town Hall.
